On July 29-30, 2015, Tashkent hosted an international roundtable discussion entitled “Bolstering the role and importance of civil society institutions in democratic renewal and modernization of the country: the experience of Uzbekistan and international practice”. The event was organized by the National Association of Nongovernmental and Nonprofit Organizations (NNOs) of Uzbekistan, the Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society and the Public Fund under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as foreign partners – the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Office of OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
It is generally known that one of the activities of the Independent Institute for monitoring of the formation of civil society (IIMFCS) is to monitor the implementation of legal acts and improvement of the practical aspects of the election process. In this regard, the Institute monitored the processes of the organization of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which were held on March 29, 2015.
– Under such a motto Tashkent hosted 4th annual National forum of NGOs of Uzbekistan.
The National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan organized the event in close collaboration with Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society, Women's Committee of Uzbekistan, Ecological Movement, Public Fund for Support of NGOs and other civil society institutions under Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other partners.
Samarkand has played host to the international conference entitled “The role of women in public administration and the formation of civil society: the practice of Uzbekistan”.
The forum was organized by the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan, the Legislative Chamber and Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Federation Council of Trade Unions, the National Association of Nongovernment Nonprofit Organizations of Uzbekistan, and the Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society. The foreign partners included the Regional Bureau of the UN Women for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (Germany), representative office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Germany) in Uzbekistan
