A meeting was held at the Tashkent office of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) between the Chairman of the National Association of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations of Uzbekistan (NANGNPOUz), K.Ishankhodjaev, and the Head of TIKA’s Office in Uzbekistan, Esin Acar Ergin.

During the meeting, the Turkish side was briefed on the activities of the Association, the ongoing reforms in the sphere of civil society, and issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed. K. Ishankhodjaev emphasized that cooperation with Turkey is one of the priority directions in the Association’s external relations.

Within the framework of the meeting, NANGNPOUz proposed the following areas of cooperation: establishing ties with similar organizations in Turkey, exchanging experience and studying the Turkish practice in the activities of civil society institutions, as well as implementing joint projects in the fields of ecology, healthcare, water supply, and employment.

In turn, Esin Acar Ergin supported the proposals and expressed her interest in developing cooperation through practical steps. She also noted that special attention would be paid to collaboration with major NGOs in the regions and the territorial branches of NANGNPOUz.

As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on developing projects in the fields of ecology, healthcare, and water supply to be subsequently submitted to TIKA, as well as on inviting representatives of Turkish partner organizations to the events of the Civil Society Week to be held in December of this year.
